History of surah Consultation
Name
Surat Al-Shura was given this name to indicate the status of Shura in Islam and to teach the believers to live their lives according to this ideal and most complete approach, the "Shura Approach", as it has great effects on the lives of individuals and society.
Period of Revelation
Surah Al-Shura is the sixty-ninth surah in terms of the order of revelation. As it was revealed after Surat Al-Kahf, and before Surat Ibrahim, as for the number of its verses; It was said that it is fifty, as it was narrated from the people of Medina, Mecca, the Levant, and Basra, and fifty-three according to the people of Kufa.
Theme and topics
The Surat Al-Shura contains a number of important topics and matters which we mention below:
God Almighty asked the Arabs to compose such a Quran consisting of the letters of the Arabic language.
The emphasis is on the prophethood of Muhammad - may God bless him and grant him peace - and that he was a human being.
He mentioned the manifestations of the power of God - the Almighty - in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the creation of angels glorifying God - the Almighty - by night and by day.
He entertained the Prophet -peace and blessings be upon him- by explaining the reward for the disbelievers and the stubborn.
Reminding the believers of the blessings of God Almighty upon them.
