surah

Name
Surah Al-Jathiya was named after the terrors that will befall mankind on the Day of Judgment, when creatures will fall to their knees in fear and faint in anticipation of the reckoning. People are afraid of what does not come to their minds, and truly it is a terrible day for which children turn gray.

Period of Revelation

Sura Al-Jathiya is one of the suras that is agreed to have originated in Mecca and was revealed at the end of the Muslims' life in Mecca, for that was after the incident of Isra' and Mi'raj and before the emigration to Medina.
In Surah Al-Jathiya, nothing is mentioned about the reason for its revelation, but the proven reason for the revelation of a verse from it is the saying of the Almighty: " Tell those who believe, to forgive those who do not look forward to the Days of Allah. It is for Him to recompense (for good or ill) each People according to what they have earned." It was revealed about Omar ibn Al-Khattab - may God be pleased with him - according to the narration of Ibn Abbas - may God be pleased with them both - where he reported that a Jew from the people of Medina named "Finhas" said, " The Lord needed Muhammad when the saying of the Almighty was revealed, " Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan, which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply many times? It is Allah that giveth (you) Want or plenty, and to Him shall be your return." ; Omar became very angry and drew his sword to kill the Jew. Then Gabriel - peace be upon him - came down to the Messenger with this verse.

Theme and topics

This sura portrays part of the reception of the Islamic call by the polytheists, their way of dealing with its arguments and verses, their intransigence to the facts and questions, and their total adherence to passion without being unsettled by any clear right or conclusive proof. He also imagined how the Quran deals with their unbridled hearts, wandering with passion and without guidance. He confronts them with crucial verses of God that are profound in their impact and meaning, reminding them of His torment, portraying His reward, laying down His laws for them, and introducing them to His past laws in this existence.

The Surah also dealt with the Islamic faith, explaining it and deepening its study. I talked about faith, monotheism, the Muhammadan message, the Quran, the resurrection and the reward.
