History of surah Defrauding

Name

Some of the surahs of the Quran are named after words that appear in the beginnings of these surahs, and this is also the reason why it was called Surah Al-Mutaffifin.

Period of Revelation

There is a dispute about the place where Surat Al-Mutafifin was revealed, since according to some it is the last Surah revealed in Mecca, as in Ibn Masoud and Al-Dahhak, and the first was revealed in Medina, as Ibn Abbas in the most correct of him, Ikrimah, Al-Hassan, Al-Suddi and Muqatil, and it was said that part of it is Meccan and part of it is civil, as in Qatada and Ibn Abbas, according to a tradition of his, are civil, except for eight verses from the last of them.
There is nothing in the Sunnah or in any of the interpretation books that indicates that there is any particular reason for the revelation of Surat Al-Mutaffifin in its entirety, except that the scholars have given reasons for the revelation of the first verse of Surat Al-Mutaffifin, as this verse was revealed in relation to the people of Medina.

Theme and topics

It included a warning against slightness in measure and weight, and its fear that it was a fraud to eat people's money in the event of a transaction, taking or giving. And that is what they will be held accountable for on the Day of Resurrection.
And the intimidation of that day is that he stood with their Lord to separate them and to reward them for their deeds, and that deeds are counted with Allah.
He promised those who deny the Day of Recompense, and those who deny that the Qur’an is revealed from God.
And reflecting their condition from the condition of the righteous people of faith, raising their ranks, declaring their dignity among the angels and the close ones, and mentioning pictures of their bliss.
From that, he moved on to describe the situation of the two teams in this fleeting world, when the polytheists mocked and mocked the believers and made them weak, and how the situation was reversed in the eternal world.
