Name

Sura Al-Rahman is one of the suras named after one of the most beautiful names of God, that of the Merciful, and the word Al-Rahman is a word at the beginning of the sura and means the mercy by which God, the Highest, and many scholars have said that there is another reason for this, to call the Sura The Merciful by this name, namely that it is one of the Quranic Suras that speaks in its content of the mercy of God, praise be to Him, through the comprehensive and general name for mercy with all creatures, namely the Merciful.

Period of Revelation

In Surat Al-Rahman it is different, is it meccan or civil? It is likely that it is Meccan. In the book of Al-Azmeh, which is on the authority of Ataa, it is said that Surat Al-Rahman was sent down on Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq - may God be pleased with him. Because of his fear of God Almighty, when he remembered the horrors of the Day of Resurrection, Libra, Heaven and Hell, he wished that he had never been created, or that he had been created as a green plant to be eaten by the animals
Surah Al-Rahman came as an answer to the question of the polytheists as to what was the kingdom of grace. Thus, the Surah came to confirm the attribute of the Graceful One and to prove that He is the One who taught the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - the Holy Qur'an.
Surah Al-Rahman was created in response to the polytheists' claim that the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - learns the Noble Qur'an from the people.

Theme and topics

Surah Al-Rahman contains a number of purposes and references that are difficult to enumerate, and the most important of these purposes can be stated as follows:
is a declaration of the mercy of God, praised be He, towards His creatures. He is the One who called Himself the Most Merciful, and God Almighty mentions encouragement and intimidation in it for several purposes. They asked him who is the Merciful One who requires them to prostrate before him, and that the Merciful One who commanded them to prostrate before him is the One before whom the sun and the moon prostrate, with the reminder that the Merciful One who created the Quran and the One who created man and taught him all sciences, and that He created everything and perfected His creation and excels in it. God Almighty commands man in Surat Al-Rahman to be just and to give his right to everyone who has a right, And God Almighty showed His many blessings that He bestowed upon all of His creation, so one of the goals of Surat Al-Rahman is to reflect on God's creation and make it a way to approach Him and call upon Him Almighty to obey. God Almighty distinguished Muslims among themselves and favored some of them over others according to their deeds. Some of them had two gardens at the highest level of heaven, and some of them had two gardens lower than the previous two.
