History of surah The Clans
Name
It was called "Surah Al-Ahzab" because the polytheists from all directions went against the Muslims. Thus, the infidels of Mecca with Ghatafan and Banu Qurayza and the Arab bastards met the Muslims in a war, but God put them in their place and the believers were enough to fight with this glorious miracle.
Period of Revelation
It is a civil surah, which was revealed in Medina, between the events of the second and fifth years of migration
In the justification for the revelation, it states that when the Prophet, God's blessings and peace be upon him, moved to Medina, he loved the conversion of the Jews living there, such as: Banu Qurayzah, An-Nadir and Qaynuqa', and some of them followed him, but they were hypocrites who showed their Islam and hid their infidelity, so the peace and blessings of God be upon him softened their side. And he honors them and listens to what they say.
The reason for its revelation was that it was revealed about Abu Sufyan, Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl and Amr al-Sulami when they came to Medina after the battle of Uhud and the Prophet, God's prayers and peace be upon him, gave them the assurance to talk to him so they asked him to say that their gods al-Lat, al-Uzza and Manat are beneficial and have intercession for those who worship them. In return for them leaving him, the Prophet, God's prayers and peace be upon him, but the Prophet, God's prayers and peace be upon him, refused because he had given them security, and ordered them to be expelled from Medina.
It was also reported about the reason for its revelation that the people of Mecca asked the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, to return to Mecca and leave his call in exchange for giving him half of their money and marrying him to the daughter of Shaybah bin Rabi'ah, and the hypocrites of Madinah threatened him with death if he did not return to Mecca.
