History of surah The Clot
Name
This sura was given this name, like many suras, which are characterised by the beginning of their verses.
Period of Revelation
Surat Al-Alaq is a Meccan surah whose beginning was revealed when the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - was worshipping in the cave of Hira, in Jabal Al-Nour, about two miles from Mecca Al-Mukarramah.
In Surat Al-Alaq, reference is made to the beginning of creation and that man is honored with knowledge. This is the blessing and breakthrough that changed the course of history, for these first words are at the beginning of this blessed Surah.
It is worth mentioning that the first thing revealed from the Holy Qur'an is Surat Al-Alaq, more precisely the first five verses of this blessed surah, where the revelation came down to these verses, Gabriel - peace be upon him - to the Messenger of God - God's prayer and peace be upon him - in the cave of Thawr, and the Messenger of God worshipped and reflected on God's creation in the cave
Theme and topics
These blessed verses spoke about the tyranny of the son of Adam in this life. When a man became rich and prosperous, he rebelled and denied the grace of Almighty God, and that is in his nature. In these verses, it is called by God Almighty to give thanks to the blessings and praise the Giver - the Most High. Then the verses of Surat Al-Alaq are about the story of Abu Jahl with the Messenger of God - God's prayers and peace be upon him - in which Abu Jahl forbade the Messenger of God - God's prayers and peace be upon him - from praying and was arrogant and challenged God Almighty with his disbelief, denial and tyranny.
Then he continued threatening Abu Jahl, the powerful disbeliever, and God Almighty sealed the verses of this blessed surah with prayer and worship, so that the beginning and the end consisted in mentioning the worship of God Almighty, and in the last verse a prostration from the verse of prostration in the Holy Qur'an
