Name

This Surah was called Surah Al-Kafiroon because it is addressed to some whom the Holy Quran calls disbelievers, and it was called Surat Al-Junhad because the reality of disbelief is denial and obstinacy.

Period of Revelation

The revelation of Surah Al-Kafroon took place after Surat Al-Ma'un. More precisely, in the period between the beginning of the revelation to the Messenger of God and before the emigration, Surah Al-Kafiroon was revealed in Mecca Al-Mukarramah, and it is one of the Meccan Surahs.

Abdullah bin Abbas - may God be pleased with him - related that the Quraysh came to the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - and offered to give him a lot of money to make him the richest among the inhabitants of Mecca, and to marry him to as many women as he wanted in return for not insulting their gods or speaking ill of them. What is between them and him is that they worship Al-Lat and Al-Uzza for a year and then worship Allah for a year.

Theme and topics

Surah Al-Kafiroon is considered as a presumption of innocence of our master Muhammad towards those who worship others as God and to avoid their interactions and discussions with them about what they offer to the Messenger of God to worship their gods, as he is steadfast in the religion of truth and indifferent to them, which made them despair of the response of the Messenger of God to what they want.
