Period of Revelation

Surat Al-Jinn: It is a Meccan surah that was revealed to the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, in Mecca Al-Mukarramah, and it is seventy-second in the Holy Qur'an and was revealed after Surat Al-A'raf.
It was reported by the honorable companion Abdullah bin Abbas - may God be pleased with him - that the Prophet - may God's prayer and peace be upon him - went to the market of Okaz with some of his companions - may God be pleased with them - and at that time the devils had stopped from going to heaven, and they prevented from doing it, and they were able to do it before, and that was because when they wanted to ascend to heaven, they were hit by meteors that prevented them from completing their journey and prevented them from reaching their destination, so they returned disappointed. When the Jinn people saw their companions and they returned to them, they asked them the reason for their return. They said that an obstacle stood between us and ascending to heaven. So those who were gathered set out to find the reason, which was to hinder them and their way. And while they were searching They passed by the Messenger of God - God bless him and grant him peace - while he was praying with his companions - God be pleased with them - in the market of Okaz and reciting verses from the Holy Qur'an. Then they realized that was the Noble Qur'an.

Theme and topics

The Sura has two aims at the same time. It speaks of the ease of God's speech and His closeness to the servants, and of the simplicity of His religion, which leads to the right path and forbids falsehood, and that he who desires guidance believes in the easiest reasons: the first purpose is to introduce the jinn, and the second is a lesson and admonition for man (for he is the one to whom the Qur'an is addressed)
