Name

The Surat Al-Tahrim was given this name because it mentions the prohibition of the Prophet - God's prayer and peace be upon him - for himself what was permitted for him.

Period of Revelation

Surat al-Tahrim is one of the suras revealed at a later time than the civil phase. Some traditions mention the names of the mothers of the believers in the reasons for their revelation, and the Messenger of God - God's prayers and peace be upon him - did not marry them until a later time, such as Zainab bint Jahsh, Safiyya bint Huyay, and his slave Mary al-Qibtiyyah.

There is a difference of opinion among scholars about the reason for the revelation of Surat al-Tahrim, and it was said that the Holy Prophet used to stay with his wife Zainab bint Jahsh and drink honey with her, and his wives Aisha bint Abi Bakr and Hafsa bint Omar agreed that when the Holy Prophet entered her, she would say to him, " I find the smell of glue on you, have you eaten glue? And indeed, when he entered one of them, she said the agreed, and his answer was, "No, rather I drank honey with Zainab bint Jahsh, and I will not return to her."
It was said that the reason for the revelation of Surat Al-Tahrim is that the Prophet -may God bless him and grant him peace- was in the house of his wife Hafsa, accompanied by his wife Mary the Coptic, and the owner of the house was visiting her father Omar ibn Al-Khattab, and when he returned from his visit, she saw Mary in her house with the Holy Prophet, so she did not enter the house until Mary went out from him
